Audition for Our 2023 The Nutcracker Performance

The Ohman School of Ballet is opening auditions for our 2023 The Nutcracker. Please read through additional information found below.

Auditions held at Ohman School of Ballet

Sunday, June 4, 1:00 p.m. for
Children Ages 6 – 14

Saturday, August 17, 1:00 p.m. for
Advanced Dancers & Pointe Work

Proper ballet attire required. There is an Audition Fee of $20.00 for all students.

While the auditions are open to all students, anyone who is cast in the show must be registered for class(es) at the Ohman School of Ballet for the semester in which rehearsals and performances take place (September 2023 through January 2024).

Nutcracker 2023 Requirements

Dancer must be a registered student of the Ohman School of Ballet for at least the fall semester during which rehearsals and performances take place. Dancer must attend classes and rehearsals consistently. The school office must be notified of any absence for class or rehearsal. Exessive absences will result in expulsion from the cast. Dancer or Parent must be responsible to check website ongoing for information.

A Nutcracker Production Fee of $350.00 and tuition must be paid in full before student is allowed to attend rehearsals. For families with more than one child in the cast the production fee is $300 per child.

The Nutcracker fee covers all rehearsal time, costumes, and other expenses related to your child and the production.

Dancer must be available for all applicable dress rehearsal and performance dates in December.

Class Requirements For Specific Roles

Children cast as Angels, Baby Mice, Gnome, Bunny, Soldier, Trumpeteer, Sentry, Grey Mouse, Reindeer, and Grandchild are required to take a minimum of one class per week for a minimum of one semester.

Children cast as Party Scene Girl, Party Scene Boy, and Pollichenelle must take a minimum of two classes per week for a minimum of one semester.

Children cast as Clara, Fritz, the Prince, and Candy Cane must take a minimum of three classes per week for a minimum of one semester.

All remaining parts other than Corps de Ballet and Soloists must take a minimum of four classes per week for a minimum of one semester.

Students cast in the Corps de Ballet (including understudies) must take a minimum six classes per week (with excellent attendance year round).


Final casting will be determined during the summer session. Clara and Fritz call-backs will be based on ability, dedication, and year-round attendance (including summers).
